PSG in action for Community Service

On 17 Feb 2016, TMS collaborated with Thye Hua Kwan - Bedok Radiance to organise a community service project to spread some CNY cheer to the elderly in Bedok South.

Believing the important of giving back to the community, and wanting to be part of something meaningful for both the residents and for the students, TMS PSG was also part of the project by sponsoring the goodie bag items.

Together with the students, teachers and alumni, we went around. It was very heartwarming to see the students chatting with the elderly, providing some company and bringing them comfort.

PSG is very proud to be able to support this event for the second year running. Do join us for the next community service project! Watch this space!

2016 First Coffee Talk in LifeSpace

We held our first Coffee Talk session with our Vice-Principal, Dr Ong, yesterday. The session was very fruitful as he shared about "A-S-P-I-R-I-N", which stands for Assess (assess your family's relationship), Strategies, Plan, Implement & Retry, Innovate, Nurturing relationships, to resolve e-conflicts* at home.

As part of the session, we also learnt how to plan and create more bonding opportunities for our family. It was good to share ideas with fellow parents on coming with such activities that our kids would not find boring. We also talked about how we could improve our daily communication with our children, which can be a struggle for some especially them, being teenagers might feel that we are being intrusive,

This session was also special as we had three Sec 1 parents, parents from Sec 2 - 4 and even alumni parents who joined the session.

PSG Parents Lo-Hei with Temasek Staff

HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR TO ONE & ALL

To usher in the Lunar New Year, our PSG parents joined the TMS staff last Friday for the annual Lo-Hei lunch. The lunch was sponsored by all Chinese colleagues. (Thank you so much! It was delicious!).

Our parents and teachers gathered around the tables and exchanged New Year greetings. Soon, we were all tossing the Yusheng and wishing for prosperity, luck and good health.

For lunch, there was a wide spread of food offered - noodles, lotus wrapped rice, herbal chicken, sweet and sour fish, and nice hot Chendol! It was really nice to get together in TMS with fellow parents and teachers to celebrate the festivities.

Our First LifeSpace Workshop in 2016 - CNY Decors!

For our first LifeSpace workshop in 2016, our PSG Lifespace "instructors" have prepared themselves to teach our Temasekians how to make Chinese New Year decoration art crafts.
Our PSG mothers gathered themselves today at our newly renovated LifeSpace room in the library and enjoyed themselves learning how to make beautiful fans and lanterns from angbaos.

We are quite sure our kids will look forward to our first LifeSpace session!

PSG Celebrates Deepavali

Today, the PSG has brought the Deepvali celebrations to Temasek Secondary School (TMS). It was a great experience as it was fun-filled for both Indians and & non-Indians. The event was also graced by our Principal-Designate Mrs Dayna Chia. Together with my hubby and son, I had a really good time.

We first welcomed the staff with haarathi & put bindhis on female's forehead. Our PSG members, Vice-Principal,  Dr. Ong and Mrs Chia thought it was interesting as it was the first time some of them have ever experienced a traditional Hindu welcome.

We shared the story of how Deepavali is an ancient Hindu festival that celebrates the victory of light over darkness. The rest of the celebrations was continued with henna painting on our PSG members hand. Some of the non-indian female PSG members allowed us to drape sarees over them. Even Mrs Chia, tried on a sari too!

Some PSG members also helped us with the rangoli by decorating it with diyas, flowers, glitter powder, colour powder, rice colour powder. etc. One could easily tell that they were enjoying themselves by showing off their artistic flair.

The food was arranged by school & its lip-smacking indeed! At last, they gave me a chance to sing mangal aarthi song too.

I am really thankful for everyone made our mini celebration such a memorable and eventful one.
